I don’t know if this counts as an abandoned knitting project seeing as I never actually started it, but I did sketch it sometime back in 2013 fresh from a rainy day trip to Savannah. I went as far as dropping some squares in MS Paint, and then immediately forgot about it. Probably because the sun came out.

Materials:

Needles: US size 6 and US size 8

Yarn:

MC – Knit Picks Shine Worsted in Willow, 11 skeins (825.0 yards/19.4 ounces)

CC1 – Knit Picks Shine Worsted in Black, 1 skein (75 yards/1.76 ounces)

Gauge:

19 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches in ST (size 8 needles)

Colorwork Pattern

Back

CO 97 in MC with size 6 needles

Rows 1-6: K in 1×1 rib

Switch to size 8 needles

Row 7: Knit

Row 8: K5, p to last 5, k5

Repeat rows 7 and 8

Row 65: knit

Row 66: Purl

Repeat rows 65 and 66

Row 105: K40, k2tog, k1, place remaining stitches on stitch holder

Row 106: Purl

Row 107: K to last 3, k2tog, k1

Repeat rows 106 and 107 until 37 stitches remain. End on WS row. BO

Pick up left 43 from stitch holder (leaving 11 behind) 

Row 1: K1, SSK, k to end

Row 2: Purl

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until 37 stitches remain. End on WS row. BO

Front

CO 97 in MC with size 6 needles

Rows 1-6: K in 1×1 rib

Switch to size 8 needles

Rows 7 and 9: Knit

Rows 8 and 10: K5, p to last 5, k5

Row 11: k15, k row 1 of colorwork pattern, k15

Row 12: K5, p10, continue in colorwork pattern, p10, k5

repeat rows 11 and 12 to row 65

Row 65: K15, continue colorwork pattern, k to end

Row 66: P15, continue in colorwork pattern, p 10 end

Repeat rows 65 and 66 until row 87 (77 of the colorwork pattern)

Row 88: Purl

Row 89: Knit

Repeat rows 88 and 89

Row 97: K40, k2tog, k1, place remaining stitches on stitch holder

Row 98: Purl

Row 99: K to last 3, k2tog, k1

Repeat rows 98 and 99 until 37 stitches remain. 

K in stockinette stitch for 6 more rows. BO

Pick up left 43 from stitch holder (leaving 11 behind) 

Row 1: K1, SSK, k to end

Row 2: Purl

Neckline

Stitch BO edges of shoulders together

Switch to size 6 needles

Row 1: pick up and knit 11 stitches from back stitch holder, pick up and knit 37 along neckline, pick up and knit 11 from front stick holder, pick up and knit 37 along neckline. 

Row 2: knit in 1×1 rib. 96 stitches in play

Sleeves

stitch sweater back and front at the sides (garter stitch to garter stitch, leaving armholes at the stockinette stitch edge transition) 

size 8 needles 

Row 1: Pick up and knit 90 stitches around armhole 

Join in round

Rows 2-5: Knit

Row 6: *SSK, k41, k2tog; repeat from *

Rows 7-11: knit

Repeat rows 6-11 until 42 stitches remain (ending on row 11)

Switch to size 6 needles

Rows 1-18: k in 1×1 rib
